Pietro Grasso

Pietro Grasso is an Italian anti-mafia magistrate and politician who has been President of the Italian Senate since 16 March 2013. In 1984 he was appointed associate judge in the first maxiprocesso to Cosa Nostra, after which he became consultant to the Anti-Mafia Commission. In 1991 he was chosen adviser to the criminal affairs department of the Ministry of Justice. In 2005 he was appointed national Anti-Mafia prosecutor. In 2012 he left the magistrate to participate in the elections. In 2013 he entered the Italian Senate where he soon became President. Pietro also wrote many books, including “Soldi sporchi – Come le mafie riciclano miliardi e inquinano l’economia mondiale” (2011) and “Liberi tutti – Lettera ad un ragazzo che non vuole morire di mafia” (2012).
