Fernanda Nicola

Fernanda G. Nicola is Professor of Law at the Washington College of Law, American University. She is also the Director of the Program on International Organizations Law and Diplomacy. Her research and teaching interests are in Comparative Law, European Union Law, Transnational Legal Theory, Private Law and Local Government Law. She received her PhD from Trento University and her SJD degree from Harvard Law School. At Harvard she was the recipient of the Mancini Prize in European Law and the Justice Welfare and Economics fellowship at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. Professor Nicola is the author of several articles on transatlantic relations and European integration including ‘The Politicization of Legal Expertise in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)’(2015), ‘Invisible Cities in EU Law’ (2012) and a co-edited volume with Bill Davies entitled ‘EU law Stories’ (2016). During the academic year 2016-2017 she is a Visiting Professor at LUISS in Rome and a Fernand Braudel Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence.
