Angelino Alfano

Angelino Alfano was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs under the new government of Paolo Gentiloni in December 2016. Previously, he served as Minister of Interior under the governments of Matteo Renzi and Enrico Letta. From 2013 to 2014 Alfano held the office of Deputy Prime Minister of Italy, within the Letta Cabinet, and previously served as Minister of Justice from 2008 to 2011 under the leadership of Berlusconi. Alfano is the first Italian politician to have held the offices of Minister of Justice, Interior and Foreign Affairs, which are considered the most important ministries in the Italian government. He holds a law degree from Milan’s Università Cattolica and a doctorate in Corporate law from the University of Palermo.
