Ruth Wodak is Emeritus Distinguished Professor and Chair in Discourse Studies at Lancaster University. She is currently leading a project on Austrian identity at the University of Vienna. Previously, she held teaching and research appointments at the University of Örebro, Stanford University, Uppsala University, University of Minnesota and several other institutions. She is a member of the editorial board of a range of linguistic journals. For her research, focused on discourse studies, gender studies, prejudice and discrimination, she received various awards, among others the Wittgenstein-Preis, awarded in 1996, and the Grand Decoration of Honour in Silver for Services to the Republic of Austria awarded in 2011.
