Martin Schulz

Martin Schulz is the President of the European Parliament. He was elected in 2012 for a mandate of two and half years, after which, in 2014, he became the first President in the Parliament’s history to be reelected for a second term. He became a MEP in 1994 and served first on the sub-committee on Human Rights, then on the Committee on Civil Liberties and Home Affairs. In 2000 he was selected to chair the delegation of the SPD party, while in 2004 he was elected head of the S&D group, campaigning for social justice, promoting growth, reforming financial markets, championing equality and creating a stronger and more democratic Europe.
