Vaira Vike-Freiberga is the president of the World Leadership Alliance Club of Madrid and a member of the European Council on Foreign Relations. She is former President of the Republic of Latvia (1999-2007). She holds an MA in Psychology from the University of Toronto and earned her Ph.D. at McGill University in Montreal. In 2005 Dr. Vaira Vike-Freiberga was named Special Envoy to the Secretary General on UN reform. In her post-presidency she was made Senior Fellow at the Institute of Politics, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
