Gaby Umbach

Gaby Umbach is Director of “GlobalStat” and Co-Director of the project “Global Governance by Indicators” at the Global Governance Programme of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (EUI). She holds a PhD in Political Science from Cologne University, where she was Senior Research Associate until 2014. From July 2015 she serves as Book Review Editor of the Journal of Common Market Studies (JCMS). In 2009 she received the Stiftung Demokratie Award for outstanding research on democratic decision-making within the EU’s supranational polity. Her current academic work focuses on global governance by indicators and sustainable development.

Maria Romana De Gasperi

Maria Romana De Gasperi is Honorary President of the De Gasperi Foundation in Rome. Born in Trento, she worked as the personal assistant of her father Alcide De Gasperi, Prime Minister of Italy from 1945 to 1953 . Mrs De Gasperi has assembled the archive of De Gasperi’s documents deposited at the Historical Archives of the European Union in Florence. She collaborates weekly with the Avvenire newspaper and has published various books, among others: De Gasperi uomo solo, Mio caro padre and La nostra patria Europa. A graduate from the University of Rome, Mrs De Gasperi holds a honorary doctorate from the University of Timisoara.

Stefania Maurizi

Stefania Maurizi is an investigative reporter and a regular contributor to L’Espresso. She has worked on all WikiLeaks releases of secret documents, partnered with Glenn Greenwald to work on the Snowden files about Italy. She has also interviewed A.Q.Khan, the father of the Pakistani atomic bomb, investigated weapons trafficking and serious cases of environmental pollution. She authored two books: Dossier WikiLeaks. Segreti Italiani and Una Bomba, Dieci Storie. In 2008 she was awarded the prestigious journalistic prize Colomba D’Oro.
